DEACERO® has been honored with the 2024 LOGRA Award by the United Nations Global Compact in the "Planet" category for our "Decarbonization Route" as part of our sustainability actions.
The LOGRA Awards recognize the leadership and positive impact of companies in sustainability and their contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals. The LOGRA Awards are a benchmark for accelerating the necessary change in the global context, promoting progress towards an inclusive and environmentally sustainable society. The 2024 edition considered four categories: People, Prosperity, Planet, and Peace.
Our Decarbonization Route, promoted by senior management, guides us towards the goal of reducing the intensity of our CO2 emissions by 56% by 2030, using 2019 as our base year. As a result, from 2019 to 2030, we will avoid emitting 5.2 million tons of CO2. This is comparable to the CO2 emissions of approximately 23 million cars driving for a year.
The Decarbonization Route includes the use of low-emission factor electricity and renewable energy from wind and solar parks, improvements in industrial processes, increased recycling and smelting efficiency, and the transition to more efficient technologies.
This recognition is the result of a competitive and rigorous selection process in which a multidisciplinary group, including representatives from the United Nations System, the Board of Directors of the Global Compact, and other companies, voted for this initiative.
We celebrate this milestone as part of DEACERO®'s journey to becoming an increasingly sustainable company, contributing to profitability with a positive impact on society and the environment. This recognition drives us to continue seeking improvement to exceed our performance in sustainability.
